BioCFplus Technical Assistance Fund

group participation, Kenya Sustainable Agriculture Land Management project

The BioCFplus Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Trust Fund was a World Bank-managed initiative that is now closed. This website remains available for reference, but no further updates will be made.

The BioCFplus Technical Assistance (TA) and Capacity Building Trust Fund was funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)—now part of the Department of Global Affairs, Canada. In its early days, BioCFplus focused on capacity building for project development, the creation of the first methodologies and tools for carbon accounting of afforestation/reforestation projects, and the dissemination of lessons learned from the pioneering role of the BioCarbon Fund, highlighting the development benefits of carbon sequestration projects.

Over time, the Fund expanded beyond forests to develop a broader work program that included carbon methodology development for the agriculture and livestock sector, as well as capacity building for UNFCCC negotiators and other stakeholders.

The following sets of activities were funded through BioCFplus:

  • Project Capacity Building and Monitoring Support
  • UNFCCC Negotiations and other meetings, and Regular Outreach
  • Knowledge Management
  • Methodology Development
  • Assisting Developing Countries in Carbon Asset Creation
